Coming from a loss against Manchester United last weekend, Arsene Wenger’s side were heading for another disaster as they struggled to again find the back of the net.
But France striker Giroud directed Alexis Sanchez’s cross past Fraser Forster shortly after appearing as a substitute to cancel Austin's opener.
The result means Gunners now have 29 points from 16 matches and remain 5th on the table.
