Only a resounding victory over Benin Republic on Saturday will be good enough for the CHAN Eagles to secure qualification for the 2018 Africa Nations Championships in Kenya.
That is what the coach of the team, Salisu Yusuf is promising ahead of Saturday’s make-or-mar tie at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Yusuf spoke to journalist in Kano on the chances of his team to overturn the slim defeat suffered last weekend in Cotonou.
“We hope to cancel the 1-0 deficit early in the game and go all out in the second half to wrap up the match,” he began.
“The technical crew have worked on the lapses which cost us the game in Cotonou and the boys are raring to go.
“On the fitness of the players, we have lost two players to injuries and their places have been taken by equally two good players,” Yusuf disclosed.
The Eagles defeated Kano Pillars 1-0 in a practice game on Wednesday and are looking good to go for Saturday’s match.
